  • OSHA counseling and enforcement actions
Our current environmental practice is grounded in the firm’s long history of handling environmental matters for clients. Our environmental practice was founded in the mid-1970s when the field of environmental law first emerged, and several of our department’s attorneys have practiced environmental law since that time. One of the firm’s predecessors, Barnes Hickam Panzter & Boyd, was one of the first law firms in the Midwest to recognize this new field would significantly impact the daily activities of business, industry, electric utilities, and local government.

Lawyers in our department have academic degrees in geology, chemistry, chemical engineering, biology, and natural resources which allow them to better understand the scientific and technical issues inherent in environmental law. A number of our attorneys also have practical work experiences in industry and with environmental regulatory agencies which help them understand and solve our clients’ problems.
